If SOPA has proven anything it's that technology companies really can't afford to ignore the government anymore. For it's part, Washington needs to accept that the Internet is run by professionals whose knowledge is extremely valuable and needs to be taken into account, not a bunch of "nerds" who can be excluded from the hearings like it's some high school lunch table.
